Robert M. Zak

Robert Zak is a Shea Law attorney who specializes in estate and business planning, counseling clients and helping them craft and implement estate plans designed to meet their goals and safeguard their legacy. A dedicated and dependable resource, he is driven by the desire to help people plan for and protect everything they’ve worked so hard for—and he is animated by the belief that no matter the circumstances, there is no better time than the present to get your affairs in order.

Prior to joining Shea in 2016, he was employed by the City of Detroit Corporation Counsel, working closely alongside attorneys and financial planners to help resolve property and tax disputes for citizens throughout the city of Detroit.

Robert graduated from Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business and Lee Honors College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2015. While in law school, Robert had the opportunity that ultimately became a formative experience: serving as a member of the University of Detroit Mercy Veterans Law Clinic, providing much-needed legal services to veterans and their families in the surrounding community. On numerous occasions, he practiced before the Department of Veterans Affairs, and fought to obtain service-connected disability benefits for many of the community’s veterans.

Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and attending Detroit sporting events. He is the proud father of two young boys.

Leaving a legacy is a way of making a lasting contribution to the world and the people who will come after us. It’s a reflection of our life story, our values, and the lessons we’ve learned along the way. I’ve seen firsthand from my clients’ experiences that it can be a source of meaning, purpose, and pride for ourselves and others. Because ultimately, legacy isn’t about death, but about life—and the human relationships that make our lives unique and worthwhile.
