Andrew has spent essentially the entirety of his professional life with Shea, joining the firm in January 2008 shortly after graduating from law school. It’s a singular professional journey that also feels very personal to him: an opportunity to pursue his passion at a place that feels like an extended family. Whether he is building relationships with clients or connecting with colleagues, that family atmosphere remains a central part of his approach to the law. He relishes the opportunity to help his client find peace of mind during challenging times and is inspired by the process of helping those clients make big decisions and navigate an area of the law that can be difficult to talk about, let alone address.

Andrew has worked with hundreds of clients in one-on-one settings to accomplish their individual estate planning goals. He also regularly holds complimentary seminars on estate planning across Metro Detroit, with a focus on businesses and charitable organizations. It’s a continuation of his commitment to community service that began in law school, when he served as a member of the University of Detroit Mercy’s Urban Law Clinic, providing legal services to indigent and unhoused area residents. That clinic work was his first meaningful opportunity to work with older clients, and it provided the foundation for his area of practice today. Andrew has been recognized as a SuperLawyer by his peers in 2023.

Andrew graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in 2003 and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2007. He loves spending time with his wife Katie and their two young children.

I didn’t really understand the term legacy before I started working with clients on their estate planning. I’ve grown to understand and appreciate the power that a legacy can bring—not only to the next generation, but for generations to come. Understanding a client’s goals and expectations for the future is paramount to determining what that legacy looks like.
