Bonnie Swinson is an estate planning attorney at Shea Law, where she assists clients in creating estate plans tailored to their specific needs and ensuring that they can avoid the sometimes costly and time-consuming probate court process. Prior to joining Shea, Bonnie practiced estate planning and elder law in private practice with a law firm in Midland, Michigan and spent four years with The Dow Chemical Company as associate counsel in the Tax Legal Group. A resourceful and considerate counselor to her clients, Bonnie enjoys helping to make a process that some might view with apprehension a more positive experience.
Bonnie graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2010, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. Following graduation, Bonnie earned her Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in May 2014. After some time in private practice, she returned to school and obtained an L.L.M. focused on Taxation from WMU-Cooley Law School in 2019.
Outside of work, Bonnie enjoys all things food and country-living. You will usually find her out enjoying her property with her husband and three dogs. A committed foodie, she enjoys cooking and trying new foods, and works alongside her husband to process the animals he hunts to create their own bacon, steak, and brats.
I believe you are never too old to stop learning. That applies to me, of course. But I also try to work alongside my clients to help educate them about the administration of assets and the importance of creating documents that will enable them to plan for a safe and secure future for their family.
