Attorney
Ben Asp is a Shea Law attorney who assists clients in setting up estate plans, providing legal guidance and drafting trusts, wills, powers of attorney, deeds documentation, and other legal instruments. A patient and diligent advisor who routinely goes the extra mile for his clients, Ben relishes the opportunity to provide clients with comfort and relief by putting their minds at ease about something many have spent a great deal of time dreading and putting off.
Ben graduated from Ferris State University in 2015, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. After graduation, Ben spent time working as a corrections officer before attending law school. Ben earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in 2020.
Ben’s formative law school experiences shaped his professional perspective, with lessons learned both abroad—in a summer study program in Japan—and closer to home, where he spent time working as a legal assistant at the Attorney General’s Office. His work in that office included assisting with cases involving clergy abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
Outside of the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Marissa, his cat, Cashew, and watching the Detroit Lions in the hope that they will one day win a Super Bowl.
It might be because I’m often the one providing the help to clients in need, but this job has really driven home to me the importance of never being afraid to ask for help. Most people will happily provide assistance, and getting help can often provide new insight or a different perspective that you may not have considered.
